Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

A strategy using only 2 Pet Battle acquired pets, both available in Burning Steppes.
You can probably substitute the 2nd pet, as long as they have a good heal and a decent attack.

Please give this a like if you used this strat, and comment with any problems or suggestions!

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Beetle was alive nearly full health when he was in the back line, and it missed while he was in his shield. Still a viable strat though.

Balder wrote on 2018-12-26 03:45:21

I have this a shot and his shield came up and avoided the apocalypse. Not sure if this is just bad RNG?

The shield cannot block the Apocalypse. Apocalypse misses if the pet that cast it is dead, did you swap pets and keep the fire beetle alive?

Tanksall wrote on 2018-12-22 14:46:46

out of 3 tries 3 apocalypse misses..

I added a note to keep this from happening to others, thank you for your feedback!

Hi Bruski! I see it's just work in progress. I'd like to help new strats in getting more spotlight, though, so I hope you don't mind so early intrusion!
1. I added some links to pets and abilities.
2. You don't need to pass through opponent's dodge, it's a field effect which will be applied anyway.
3. Cauterize at turn 4 is likely to be an overheal. Round 5 or 6 could be better. Or swapping outright to Lava Crab.
4. Did you exclude Burn from Lava Crab on purpose to show more substitutes? That's fine, but you could describe other viable abilities. The finder is slighty bugged at the moment, don't worry about that. :)

Thank you so much! I always appreciate help. :D
1. I bet the links didn't work properly since I copy-pasted this strat from when i accidentally made it for the last boss instead of the first boss, thanks for catching that! :)
2. I figured passing was faster than using an ability, thus slightly reducing the length of the long fight, and the damage done to the boss doesn't matter.
3. That might be true, it seemed to work well enough so I didn't bother futzing with it. :)
4. I don't think Lava Crab ever uses Burn, the Apocalypse will kill it, but yes, I excluded it to try to help the pet finder. Is there a better way to do that?

Thanks for the help!

I meant that you don't need to pass two first rounds to cast Apocalypse. It will not be dodged!
Regarding the second pet, as you said yourself you need a decent attack, not necessarily Burn. The current replacements except Molten Corgi (which is unobtainable anyway) have either this one or Deep Burn. I had thought for a moment it could be worse but it looks fine for now.
You're welcome. :)

Oh! That makes sense. When building the strat it missed at first (because the Lava beetle wasn't being switched and died) but I thought it was because of the bosses shield. I'll fix that now, awesome!
Is Molten Corgi unobtainable? I swear I have one and use it a lot. It was from the Authenticator, right? The Fel Puppies of Flame attack is pretty nice.

The 10th anniversary! Core Hound Pup was from the authenticator.
