Since Dragonflight a dead pet is still able to receive 50% of the XP, if for some reason you wish to level an Lvl.1 Elemental pet through this strat / tamer just bring your leveling pet once. It will give you more than enough XP to be able to survive the subsequent battles normally. (edited)

Start with your lvl 1 pet, it dies, bring in Iron Starlette, Wind-Up, then continue as above. DON'T use Explode until after your first match w the lvl 1. It only takes 3 battles to hit lvl 25, bring bandages. (edited)

NOTE : against Gnaw, don't thunderbolt if he has < 733 hp, because thunderbolt crits exactly for 732, which would kill him and miss the exp for your leveling pet. Just breath in that very specific case before exploding (edited)

Thank you for letting us know! I failed to this once. I have P/P Iron starlette and I dont use thunderbolt anymore, just to be safe. one breath has been enough for my last 20 battles atleast.

Nice easy strat that works nicely. Another great sell on this strat is how easy the pets are to do this. Grab the Squirt Addon and 3 of each, you can pretty much go to town leveling mindlessly without any bandaids. And if you do have bandaids, then you'll probably use 1 to fill in the gap between using the wow pet revive.
Also, when you have no level pets, just change the leveling pet to a random 25... keep the TD script as is... wont hurt anything. I'm sure that someone that knows how to alter the TD script can link that somewhere in the comments.
I level up toons with pet battles when I'm at work. Much easier to afk in a pet battle than in the middle of a quest where you just need one more kill... one more of this item... or just need to talk to this one guy... you get where I'm going :P Gotta love those that can leave the quests, but if you're like me... Pet leveling is great :)

A 2-1-1 S/S Leopard Tree Frog can easily solo this. Speed Tongue Lash crushes the undead. Frog Kiss clobbers the elemental. Since this is an aquatic, the undead attacks don't do more damage than Healing Wave can keep up with.

If you use a Darkmoon Zeppelin [1,2,2] you can avoid the aoe damage from Carpnado, making it safe from crits killing your level 1 pet, and safe to level elemental pets as well.

What breed are your starlettes? They probably have too much HP I guess for it to work like this. But you could also just let the starlette die on Gnaw, and only then bring in MPD and explode when Gnaw has < 560 hp.

All you have to do is keep your Starlette in for one extra round, and it will die. Just tried this with my H/P Starlette, and it worked with no other changes to the strategy.

I did this today - perfect strat. I changed it up a little because I wasn't using a levelling pet so I never used explode. I feel like those two pets would be perfect for this quest regardless of what order you do your moves.

Slight mistake in this leveling tactics with the Explode. You don't mention killing off the Starlette, and I only noticed it survive the fight after i was done, which meant the level pet didn't get any XP due to Starlette subbing back in after Explode.

I actually just had the same problem today. Starlette is still alive at the end of the fight because its failsafes activated, so my pet doesn't get xp.

I think maybe this got overlooked after the change to the Explode strat. The starlette's first death is listed, but it needs the step to kill her off after Failsafe. I forced the final death by passing till she died. Otherwise great strat!

I chuck in an extra powerball - it is an oversight in the strat, anyone that doesn't recognise what it takes for an explode strat to work for level pet xp is going to mess up there if the strat isn't changed...

Abi is correct. When Gnaw comes in there is usually enough hp left on the Starlette for 1 Powerball before Wind-Up. If you don't use Powerball that round, you can still complete the strat, but you have to pass until Starlette dies.

As it is, the strat says "Swap to MPD", which, if people don't look at the line before, could make people think they need to use a turn to swap MPD in, rather than the actual intention of bringing it in when Starlette dies.

I did this twice and the second time I went:
1. Powerball
2. Powerball
3. Wind-Up
4. Powerball until Mist Wraith resurrects
etc

This way I hit him twice with Powerball before he did his dodge ability and didn't waste as many turns.

Je vous conseil de faire entrer votre mascotte à pex en seconde place et dès que votre étoile de fer meurt vous faite entrer votre petite mascotte et vous rechangez pour le dragon mécanique.

D'ailleur je suggère à l'auteur de cette stratégie de modifier l'issue du combat en incluant la mascotte à pex et la positionner en second emplacement.
