High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 10+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Strat and script still work in pre-patch.

magikchelle wrote on 2019-08-13 21:27:24

I used the Snowfeather Team Rumble on this one. Scourged Whelpling went first, then Crawling Claw, then I finished it off with the Hatchling. Super easy.

Please see my comments on the 3rd variation (Eekwibble's post) above; I found it to work better than this one, and scripted a slight variation that's better still.

I don't have a Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, so I substituted a Darkmoon Zeppelin (1,1,2). I just use Missile instead of Breath/Thunderbolt. I've done this 12 times and won every battle, even the one where I screwed up the swapping of the level pet.

In one fight, I did have very bad RNG and both the Zeppelin and the Unborn Val'kyr died. But my level 13 carry pet had enough health to take one hit and finish off the fight. So you may want to use carry pets that are higher than level 10, to be on the safe side.

Hyattmeister wrote on 2018-08-01 19:27:39

This strategy no longer works at all.... RNGesus or otherwise!

Eekwibble

wrote on 2018-08-01 20:33:32

It works better with a slightly higher lvl carry pet and putting that in to soak the Nether Gate. Writing strat now...

Safe hp setting for your leveling pet seems to be >=864hp vs human damage (>=1296 for dragonkin and >=576 for beasts). That way your pet will survive even if enemy crits twice.
I swap to leveling pet after Haunt instead of decoy. That saves 1 turn and decoy for the Val'kyr.

1: Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1,2,2)
2: Unborn Val'kyr (1,2,1)
3: Leveling Slot (hp>=864 for human dmg)

The script has now been deleted. Very many scripts have been written or checked in the last few days, and tested many times in the last few days. Here I have made a mistake. I'm sorry.

Ump wrote on 2018-02-20 16:36:52

An easy alternative discovered while doing the final Direbeak pet/mount quest.
Direbeak 111, Sister of Temptation 111
Start with Direbeak
Swarm (swapped for sister)
couple shadow shocks (imp down)
curse of doom -> stun -> now it's succube duel
nuke succube with shocks, pass on stun until sister's dead, one or the other
bring hatchling back, finish succy with predatory strike if needed
half-dead Rover comes, finish it with whatever, like swarm + reckless strike

PS: no the quest doesn't count for the direbeak quests :( but hey, at least some good was found in that attempt ^^'

Quasi wrote on 2018-05-27 17:07:47

So easy, thank you.

tanequil

wrote on 2018-07-09 00:07:46

Yeah, so no. HIGHLY RNG dependent--more so than the above strategy once succubus is in.

Keiala wrote on 2018-06-12 05:11:17

This works like shit, the whole fight is a pray to rngesus, a strategy needs to be made to narrow it down so that its a 100% win rate for the players

tanequil

wrote on 2018-07-08 23:50:45

Not only does this strategy not work, neither do the alternatives. The issue is the MPD generally doesn't survive as long as the strategy requires (even with decent RNG).

It's a very tidy improvement and the strat moves much quicker now.

Nomad wrote on 2017-07-31 17:32:54

i don't remember if it was this one or another pet battle
but i remember you start with the level 10 leveling pet it gets swiched out for the Unborn Val'kyr
and i did it
after decoy just breath
and i wont the fight

Hobbyhorse wrote on 2017-08-03 11:04:08

In the old strategy my level 10 pets always did die. Always. With Unborn Val'kyr (H/H) even my level 16 pets did die. This strategy works with Unborn Val'kyr H/H and B/B.

Nomad wrote on 2017-08-09 04:34:52

that is weird my level 10 pet starting doesn't die how come yours dos

Pure Armour wrote on 2017-08-12 18:12:04

my lvl 10 survives too unborn val'kyr is HH andd dragonling is SS

Dementhiol wrote on 2017-09-26 12:39:14

Well, you can use a lvl1 pet, but only if it's magic (as it can only take certain % of dmg of it's health). Did that 3 times today and my pet always survived.

Kreggy wrote on 2017-09-20 15:58:50

it is possible to lvl a lvl 1 pet using this strategy - and I do it whenever i do this boss and have a lvl 1 needing lvld.

Hobbyhorse wrote on 2017-07-29 20:42:54

An importent note!
This stategy has been changed. The old strategy was to random.
You can not use level 10 Dragonkin pet in slot 3.

Tormentia-Kul Tiras wrote on 2017-08-27 16:34:08

I used a level 10 pet every time I did this and never had a problem. Taking out a strat completely, that many of us liked, is really not a good idea. It should be returned, even if it's only as an alternate strat.

Myzvale wrote on 2017-07-07 05:45:27

If you're not levelling a pet here then start with Ikky and use Black Claw before it gets swapped - speeds the fight up a bit

Naughty wrote on 2017-08-04 10:47:01

It goes even faster if you use flock, hunting party, or similar

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-01 13:11:05

Actually, this won't work with a level 10 flying pet. Takes too much damage from Rover's AOE. update: this doesn't seem to work with level 10 pets period. think you need to increase the level requirement.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-05 03:40:39

It doesnt work only on flying comon pets

Lilianne wrote on 2017-07-20 07:11:58

Actually, it failed for me twice on beast pets. The first pet took 620 damage all up and died on Rover's second dreadful breath. The second pat took 771 damage and died on Rover's second dreadful breath. The first breath may have been a crit, but it's clear that this can easily happen. I'll stick with level 14+. (It's still a good strat!)

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-25 11:14:58

Actually, I had a 15 dragonkin I was levelling, still died in two breaths even though dragonkin aren't susceptible to magic attacks. Still a good strat otherwise as Lilianne said

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-07 12:52:32

Strat works better if you switch decoy to the first Rover turn regardless of which 10+ pet you are leveling. At best you kill Seduction on your MPD resurrection round at worst you kill her with 1 shadow slash from your Unborn Val'kyr. Otherwise you run the high risk of rover killing your level pet on the back row.

Does this include using Decoy after you've switched to your Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling? Because level 10-16 pets die if not as Rover just targets them.

Nice. Improves the strat too.

Fabinas wrote on 2017-05-05 20:52:44

A simplification of the strategy :
1. Pass
2-4. Shadow Slash (Imply dies. If not, Shadow Slash again as 5. and then keep following the steps)
5. Haunt (on Rover)
6. Bring Pandaren Mechanical Dragonling, Breath till Rover dead.
7. Decoy (on Succubus pet)
8. Thunderbolt
9. Breath till end of fight. (if by some chance the Pandaren Mechanical Dragonling dies, Unborn Valkyr with Shadow Slash (empowered against humanoid) will finish.

Tyrsa wrote on 2017-05-11 14:47:11

Came up with this too during a fight where the Valk managed to 2-shot Imply (yay crits!). Haunt is a lot more handy on Rover than it is on Imply, and you get to save the Decoy for Succubus, where it is more needed.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-06-22 14:34:52

Just tried the 4 x shadow slash strategy: works like a charm and could possibly replace the originally posted one.

Hashberry wrote on 2017-06-25 18:26:06

This new strat is sometimes killing off my 10+ level pet (using a level 11), whereas I never lost my level pet with the previous strat.

Rosalyne wrote on 2017-07-01 12:26:36

Agreed - this often kills the leveling pet

Anonymous wrote on 2017-06-28 16:35:23

switched decoy at the beginning of MPD and Rover to save my level 11 pet, otherwise Rover attacks him over and over until he is dead. still will kill Seduction on MPd's resurect turn

Jaggrr wrote on 2017-06-04 12:50:41

You can finish off Seduction with MPD if luck is with you, just use decoy and lightning when available

GreySage wrote on 2017-04-14 16:48:37

Any strat that relies on an Unborn Val'kyr not only goes against the site's policy of "not impossible to obtain", but is evidence of superb noobishness

wrote on 2017-04-14 17:22:42

Hey GreySage. The Unborn Val'kyrs spawn rate has been changed in one of the latest patches (somewhen around Legion I believe) and is now very easily obtainable :-)

Sort of a pointless comment, but okay bro.

(OP) Aranesh

wrote on 2017-04-16 03:38:52

Is it? The Val'kyr is simply not an "impossible to obtain" pet anymore. It's barely more difficult to catch than any wild pet.

Incendio wrote on 2017-04-18 07:09:17

Definitely not impossible to obtain, i found one within 5 minutes of beginning my hunt during patch 7.1 and saw quite a few more as i was wandering around Northrend.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-04-24 01:23:38

Seems to me the real noob is someone who can't be bothered to go get a staple pet, even when it was actually hard to find.

Strat works great too btw thanks ^.^

yep not hard to find i just downloaded a addon pet tracker camped 1 spot until it showed up took me around 3 days 5h for 1 to show up nad i catched it

Lilyoptra wrote on 2017-05-23 13:38:14

Wow, way to diss a site and people that spend countless hours just to help us out...

As to the Val'kyr, I started playing again last year and needed this pet. I spent quite a bit of time farming for her as I couldn't get blue stones at the time so needed to keep trying for a rare. What I found was that there was one up in almost every zone. I just flew around checking the 3 spawn sites in a zone before going to the next one. To increase my chances, I did also kill any I found that weren't rare. Very easy to obtain now as no one really farms her anymore. If you don't have her, now's the time.

Faink wrote on 2017-05-12 08:14:18

Was able to do this with one of the falcosaur hatchlings and a spider.
Turn 1: Warning Squak
Swaps to spider
Turn 2: Brittle Webbing
Turn 3: Spiderling Swarm
Keep up webbing and use swarm on cooldown
After your spider dies the Hatchling can finish off the last pet.

Amalle wrote on 2017-05-11 20:44:11

I've had really good luck with leveling pet (20+?), Scrouged Whelping (2/2/1), and Restless Shadeling (1/1/2). Although usually the whelping can almost solo the fight...keep dots up otherwise tail sweep. You could probably use a different third slot pet and still win.

Royal Peachick 2/2/2
Frostwolf Ghostpup 1/2/2
Level 8+ pet

Arcane Storm
Ghostly Bite
Scratch x3(?)
Haunting Somg
Ghostly Bite
Switch to Peachick
Talon til chaos pup dies
Arcane Storm
Talon til Peachick dies
Bring in leveling pet
Swap to Ghostpup
Ghostly Bite
*Temptress died here*

First time doing the fight.
I'll try working on a quicker method.

I was able to get the unborn valkyr when it was first released. Even back when it was first out it wasnt that hard to get.

Kiolna wrote on 2017-04-21 05:10:15

Switched the valkyr out for the Ghastly kid -- works like a charm

Turn 1:Ghastly Kid in
Use Ethereal
(OPTIONAL USE LEVEL PET FIRST THEN SWAP IN GHASTLY KID - Continue from step 2)
Turn 2: Diseased Bite
Turn 3: Diseased Bite
Turn 4: Diseased Bite
Turn 5: Haunt (ghastly kid 'dies')
Mechanical Dragonling enters
Turn 6: Decoy
Turn 7: Breath (Imp dies, Rover enters)
Turn 8-11: Breath (Technically just breath until Rover dies & Seduction enters)
Turn 12: Thunderbolt
Turn 13: Breath
Turn 14: STUNNED so nothing :D
Turn 15: Breath (Mechanical dragonling dies/comes back to life)
Turn 16: Breath (Dragonling dies for real - bring in Ghastly Kid)
Turn 17: Diseased bite (KId May die and use his indead ability here, but the bite hit for enough that seduction died)

Tet wrote on 2017-04-05 16:38:07

For this fight I just use Anubisath Idol. Block the first gate, punch the imp to death, Sandstorm Rover and punch him to death. This helps protect your backline pets some too. Punch the succubus once and swap your level pet in to take the stun. Then almost anything works to kill her, but a good undead attack makes it faster.

Schahmaar wrote on 2017-04-14 03:14:26

Chapeau. This really IS good. Combined it with Bone Serpent (1/2/1). Anub was killed by Rover but one Bone Barrage from Serpent finished him. After that Call Darkness/Nocturnal Strike and maybe once again Barrage and this thing is done. Due to Sandstorm I got a LvL1 S/B Pet through...Pretty NICE! Suggest this as the #1 Strat.

Maizou wrote on 2017-04-10 19:14:04

The Strategy I Use:

Fel Pup (2/2/1)
Macabre Marionette (2/2/1)
Any Level 25*** Pet (I usually bring Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling as a safety net but have never needed it)

***If you want to level a pet, as long as it can survive the first hit (Level 10ish), you can lead with it, as long as Marionette is in the 2nd position to be pulled in.

Or, you can replace Fel Pup with Darkmoon Zepplin (1/2/2) use Decoy when it comes out, otherwise Missile and finish the fight with Explode (Seduction below 617 health) to give your third pet full EXP.

1. Any Move (Marionette gets swapped in)
2. Dead Man's Party
3. Dead Man's Party Continues
4. Dead Man's Party Continues
5. Bone Bite (Imply should die here, or the next turn. Rover Comes In)
6. Dead Man's Party
7. Dead Man's Party Continues
8. Dead Man's Party Continues
9. Bone Bite
10. Bone Bite (Rover Should Die)
11. Dead Man's Party until Marionette Dies, bring back Fel Pup
12. Howl if Dead Man's Party isn't up.
13. Diseased Bite until Seduction Dies.

Great strategy! Worked just as advertised.

Geki wrote on 2017-04-05 11:07:57

I'd suggest using a flying pet with flock as the filler in pet. Flying speed bonus makes it go first and it applies double damage debuff. Then skip the curse of doom and go right to shadow slashing.

Tráelo wrote on 2017-04-02 13:03:22

I took a minor liberty with the Valk/MPD strategy, when Decoy came off cooldown I used that and did not have to bring in the Valk the second time. I've only tried it once, having used the strat at least twice, but I thought it was worth a try!

Anonymous wrote on 2017-03-30 23:40:27

Took my level 10 Ji-Kun Hatchling (rare) in position 1. Went from level 10 to level 21 in ONE battle! That was 14,250 exp pts.... LOL! Great strat - for sure bring a pet to level!!

Aeliel wrote on 2017-03-30 05:14:37

Perfect - didn't even need to swap the Val'kyr back in, used Decoy vs the Curse of Doom detonation and finished off Seduction with the Dragonling.

Santobimba wrote on 2017-03-30 05:54:44

It doesnt matter fight didnt let you to swap the Val'kyr. The point is MPD has to die and you should kill with Val'kyr.. Why ? Because leveling pet will get extra XP. Surely you should let him die if you want to level more. If not, you can kill however you want.

Vij wrote on 2017-03-30 12:36:38

Why would the leveling pet receive more xp that way? if the other pets already are at 25 should it really make a difference?

Amynnassa wrote on 2017-03-30 19:31:04

Regardless of level 25 pets or not, any surviving pets that took part in the fight gain a portion of the xp. You'll get more xp for your leveling pet if you let one of them die (or better, if you can end a fight with an Explode or something to kill off all but your leveling pet). Level 25 pets just mean it doesn't help your pet.

Gemini wrote on 2017-03-30 19:45:41

No, sorry, that hasn't been true since Mists of Pandaria. Level 25 pets do not affect the amount of XP gained.

Vij wrote on 2017-03-31 03:07:04

Thanks for clearing it out :)

Beastmother wrote on 2017-03-31 02:51:39

I was able to do this one pretty easy with 2 25 Teroclaw Hatchlings. Open with Elemental Ward, your second teroclaw gets swapped in, Ward again, Dodge on CD, and Alpha Strike. Don't dodge during the second pet's Dreadful Breath rounds to help spread the damage, use dodge when the Succubus comes out to miss Curse and Lovestruck. If the first one dies, swap to the other. If you don't let your front pet soak Dreadful Breath you might need to use a third pet this way. I was just feeling lazy and found this pretty reliable faceroll.

Drakuul wrote on 2017-03-30 11:55:41

Dont just breath on seduction as soon as decoy comes back up use it and breath and she will die

Troyx wrote on 2017-03-30 05:14:05

This didn't quite go as planned for me.
My mechanical survived and my valkyr never needed to come back.
I low rolled both shadow slashes so my mech took a firebolt to the face, i thought that might have been a restart but it wasn't, and i won anyway.

Super easy strat, even with the worst RNG and if the pilot is acting like a total moron, you can still get there.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-03-30 03:51:25

For all the slobs like me without Mech Pandaren Dragon, I did this with the Unborn Valkyr/Ikky strategy, with Chrominius as a random backup pet. Start with Valkyr, it will be swapped for Ikky. Black Claw and Flock until the first two pets die, then Curse of Doom and Slash until Seduction dies.

Zafferg wrote on 2017-03-30 03:38:15
