Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Thanks for that!

Low XP
Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 1+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Strat plus script has worked great for my spouse and I, some time now. Started using a two leveling pet Yeti strat, today, but this is going to remain my fallback in case of weird crits. Thank you!

Great strat. I would recommend putting MPD as the 2nd pet because it is more common and people without Dibbler (like me <insert sad face>) will see it more :P

Side note: I believe H/H IS breed will be outside of explode range for most pets, unless you're exploder is really high HP

With how piddly the XP is, you can also just use Toxic Smoke after the second Wind Up and kill Nightfang with just the one pet.

Pharis wrote on 2021-06-26 10:21:23

Little modification to the TD for the ones (like me) that use another Iron Starlette in the second slot..the actual TD script will pass with the second Starlette too. Not very elegant, but it works xD

use(Wind-Up:459) [round=1]
use(Supercharge:208) [round=2]
use(Wind-Up:459) [round=3]
standby [round=4]
change(#2)
use(Explode:282)

Ok so just a small addition to the script so Dibbler won't fail added powerball and Drill Charge.

use(Wind-Up:459) [round=1]
use(Supercharge:208) [round=2]
use(Wind-Up:459) [round=3]
use(Powerball:566)
standby [self.is(Iron Starlette:1387)]
change(#2)
use(Drill Charge:1921)
use(Explode:282)

Probably will not need to use Explode as Drill charge will defeat him, but I left it in for good measure. Thanks goes to author of the script

i did windup, supercharge, windup and it killed the beast...so no xp for my lvlng pet.

wrote on 2021-01-27 12:37:50

Same but I have a PP Iron Starlette. Still, the XP is so low it's not much of a loss if it fails this way.

I am not sure what that means. I see people say PP and HP etc. Please explain?!?!? ;-(

StrawBear, get the addon Pattle Pet Breed ID from Curseforge. It will show you the breed of each pet beside it in your list. (You should also get Rematch and Pet Tracker while you're there if you don't have them already.)

Breeds are important for battling. In short. a P/P breed will have more Power than a H/P breed, which will have more Health. An S/S will be faster, and a H/P will have a little extra Health and a little extra Power.

I really need to write a Breeds guide, but it's not simple ... Warcraftpets has a thorough one, but it's maybe a bit much for an introduction. https://www.warcraftpets.com/wow-pet-battles/breeds/

Thank you so much! I already had Rematch, but will pick the other two up ASAP! And the breed thing I was (obviously) clueless. Today was not a wasted day because I learned something thanks to you!

DragonsAfterDark

wrote on 2021-03-11 22:48:38

I added a power restriction to the IS, because the P/P IS will kill Nightfang even without a crit. The other breeds won't kill it with a non-crit, but will with a crit.

Buellah wrote on 2020-12-26 14:28:01

Used H/P IS in 2nd. Worked liked charm.

Great strat! My lvling pet, Deepwood Leaper, lvl 23, got a whopping 224xp. Every little bit helps. HOWEVER... If you are needing this for Battle in the Shadowlands, a leveling pet WILL NOT COUNT! *sigh* (edited)

You don't need to bring the lvling pet in as it will be the only one left alive and therefore get the xp at the end. Thank you for writing the script, however as I am still completely clueless as to how to write them!
I deleted: change(#3) [self.dead] and it works perfectly. Again thanks for writing the script. :)
