Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

B/B Swamp Croaker or Mud Jumper are the better option in the first slot. These specific breeds are faster than the Risen Guard, so get the bubble off before he can do his initial stun.

Benax is slower, and H/B Swamp Croaker and Mud Jumper are both the same speed as the Risen Guard, so it comes down to RNG whether he gets the stun off.

The fight is still doable if you get stunned, but it's faster and smoother if you can avoid it.

My Risen Guard is P/B with speed of 297, faster than all of these. (edited)

Strategy worked fine for me - didn't even need my third frog.

This work, but just barely. Is this one of those fights with rotating back line?

If so, then the Plauge Whelp gave me a really hard time. His heal and breath made him last a long time and do lots of damage to the back line pets.

I like the simplicity and elegance of the strat. I want to try it again next week to see how it would fair against a different pet backline.

Yeah. Backline can be random undead, magic, or dragonkin I think. Thanks for commenting.

Shenk

unfortunately i have to agree. the strat works, but against a whelpling it may take a while; tongue lash won't have the speed bonus and because of that the whelp's healing drags the fight out quite a bit.
i'd recommend replacing the 3rd frog with something that can be brought in to deal with a whelpling since you usually wouldn't need the 3rd frog anyway

I hesitate to change it to another pet because many may have conflicts with pets needed later. For instance, the chitterspine is used by a couple different battles and the highest rated strats here would require 2...I think.

Shenk

wrote on 2020-07-12 17:29:32

well you don't have to use an important pet for this slot. as already mentioned you usually can get away with just two frogs and the 3rd pet only would have to come in vs a dragonkin, so in that slot could be something with humanoid damage like a shadowback crawler

(OP) Threewolves

Those are good points. Feel free to change it if you have something specific in mind.

Shenk

wrote on 2020-07-12 18:50:04

it's your strat, not mine. i'm just nitpicking^^

(OP) Threewolves

wrote on 2020-07-13 10:21:47

That's another truth. However, I'm not "married" to any of my strats and I'm not opposed to improvements by the pros around here. If fact, many of my strats are partner created either through suggestions and ideas or scripting help. Anyway, I'll test something I guess when I get around to it. If I can get a whelp in the backline and it's better I'll update accordingly. Thanks again.

Complete failure, the Plague Whelp tore up by 3rd frog before he even had a chance.

(OP) Threewolves

wrote on 2020-07-12 17:03:10

Could be speed or breed related. Hard to say without more info.

Belle

I swapped the pets often so the other one could use bubble sooner than the cooldown of 8 (!) rounds. That seems key with this strategy.

(OP) Threewolves

wrote on 2019-08-06 00:15:52

I never bother swapping. Just spam the script and it hasn't failed me. The idea with this strategy is to use these frogs as sort of disposables and save other pets for later like ikky, zandalari, etc. I did update the script to use Swarm of Flies on enemy undead round regardless of duration. Figured, might as well.

Without the swapping this strategy failed for me, swapping often, I could just scrape through but it's so close.

I never bother swapping either and spam the script. I have never had it fail for me.
