I bring to you yet another strat against these heavy RNG fights! Fairly consistent and reliable from my testing.

Tested on H/P Iron Starlette, confirmed by others in the comments section that P/B P/S H/H breeds work. Only P/P left to confirm, this breed might not have enough hp though. P/P more often than not, fails.

Bring a level pet with more than 323 HP, this should be the maximum damage it will take.

DO NOT use an Elemental-type level pet. It will take more damage.

Low XP
Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 4+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.
Time: 3:20
This time was entered by a strategy curator. It is quite reliable especially when using TDScript, however times can always vary slightly.
Rounds: 16
The number of rounds for this fight were added by a strategy curator. This number is usually very reliable.

I just wanted to mention I did this with 3 level 1 pets and saw that they got a total of 28 xp, so I figure I shouldn't bother with 2 pet strategies on this quest. Agree? Remember for the achievements you need all level 25 pets.

wrote on 2019-02-13 10:28:10

I used the same set up but with a P/P Iron Starlette worked fine. You will die on Maws jr but if followed you will kill him after you resurrect

Simca

wrote on 2018-11-26 02:32:47

There's a minor strategy alteration you can make in order to allow P/P Iron Starlettes to succeed. After defeating the first pet with your Iron Starlette, don't swap out immediately. Instead, use Wind-Up once (setting up the Wind-Up buff for later in the fight). This allows you to immediately use Wind-Up later in the fight when you need it, in order to take advantage of the Shattered Defenses debuff that you would otherwise not be able to utilize.

I tested this change three times in a row, and it succeeded all three times. That's not a large sample size, but considering I'd manage maybe one in 5 wins with P/P breed Iron Starlettes before this, I think it's worth trying out this strategy alteration.

I believe that making this change will have no harmful effect for the other breeds as well, but I'm not sure.

Simca

wrote on 2018-11-26 02:43:59

Adding this line to the top of the TD script will alter the strategy for P/P Iron Starlettes as I suggested:
ability(#1) [self(#1).active & self.power>=341 & enemy(#2).active & !self(#3).played & !self.aura(Wind-Up:458).exists]

Simca

wrote on 2019-01-05 03:22:02

Just tested this again today (after Patch 8.1). It works great still. I even had my Falcosaur get stunned early, but it still worked (he lived just long enough to put up the debuff before he died and my Starlette finished his Wind-Up with 61 hp left).

Mot

wrote on 2018-11-25 11:27:04

Probably I had just luck, but it worked on the first attempt. Direbeak finished the fight with plenty of HP left.

Izzy wrote on 2018-10-04 12:09:24

Until today I had no problems with this fight in the suggested breeds, as for today it failed four times in a row, no idea whats wrong with those sharks today...... up for 5th :(

Kimberleigh wrote on 2018-10-04 13:54:50

Same! I'm not even using a level pet, using a 25 and I still fail. It used to work o_O

Ralthor#2472

wrote on 2018-10-04 17:42:31

From my experience if the Direbeak gets stunned it will fail. Otherwise its all good, of course as always your mileage may vary.

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-10-06 09:05:28

I noticed a sudden increase in failed attempts since last week as well. Unfortunately, I've been unsubbed for a couple of weeks now so I can't test it myself anymore. My guess is they increased the probability of Maws Jr. using his stun ability during his first few turns.

I'm thinking of just unpublishing this strat soon until I can test it myself again, though tbh I have no intention of resubbing anytime soon.

HbHara

wrote on 2018-10-14 12:51:43

Greetings. I too had this fail multiple times. I changed my strat to stay with iron starlette until it dies, then switch to level pet and finally finish off with hatchling. just repeat step 2-4 adding a powerball on the second shark(bruce) should you be lucky enough not to get stunned until he dies
Hope this helps

MichelleLisa#1708

wrote on 2018-10-15 00:31:13

Hi there! I tried this one today. First time it hasn't worked for me. HbHara's comment seems to work, only I didn't get the chance to use my powerball. Didn't need to use it. I'm also not sure it would have worked if I had a level pet. My 3rd pet was a lvl 25 Ikky, I had to use Ikky's 'Savage Talon' once to finish off the 3rd shark.

Manasponge wrote on 2018-10-19 12:15:49

I have found on three tests (yeah, I know not exactly a statistical powerhouse here) if you switch the first two steps an run Wind Up first, then Power Ball, it changes the attack script of the sharks. In fact, each time I was able to finish the fight with the Direbeak Hatchling getting another Iron Skin in and finishing off Maws with a Predatory Strike. Your mileage may vary.

Lunanescence wrote on 2018-11-14 13:20:15

I found Manasponge's comment above the one that worked for me. Made the fight easy peasy.

Splinterverse

wrote on 2018-11-14 06:36:45

Shiny#1629

wrote on 2018-11-08 18:34:16

It seems to work fine for me without ironskinning at all, just charging down the second shark and debuffing the second

modtang

wrote on 2018-11-08 16:44:53

This just worked for me again. Didn't get stunned and was able to use Direbeak Hatchling to finish the fight.

Lenoria

wrote on 2018-10-30 15:25:42

I used this Strat today with a P/B Iron Starlette. I even got stunned once and it still worked for me.

Sefer

wrote on 2018-10-30 07:06:39

One thing I noticed the TD script doesn't match the instructions. After the swap to the falcosaur it casts swarm instead of iron skin. This makes a big difference later into the fight and means lose or win.

Laz wrote on 2018-09-03 10:36:03

I used a P/P Starlet. It worked, but since I've only had the chance to try once, I cannot say whether or not it works reliably or it was just luck on my side.

Argent

wrote on 2018-09-03 13:49:58

P/P worked for me. Powerball > Wind-up & Supercharge & Wind-up combo, bring leveling pet when Maws Jr. comes out, swap to Direbeak, and then prioritize Ironskin > Falcosaur Swarm! > Predatory Strike. When it died, my Iron Starlette could do a Wind-up & Supercharge & Wind-up combo and finish the fight.

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-09-03 14:41:42

Thanks for both of your feedbacks! With that, I can update the strat to show any Iron Starlette breed viable. :)

Saffie

wrote on 2018-09-30 18:02:53

PP doesn't always has enough health to do complete W-u, Sc and W-u combo.
Still some rng involved.

Dominia

wrote on 2018-09-30 14:33:47

Ran twice with an H/P Iron Starlette, failed both times. Switched it out for a P/S and won. Tried again on two alts, testing the H/P and close but no win. Sticking with the P/S as that seems more consistent.

Anon wrote on 2018-09-10 11:43:15

Dozen wipes in a row. This is not a valid strat for all types. Reliable it is not.

LASSIE wrote on 2018-09-29 07:32:42

totally agree - never works - IN THE RARE event you get stunned - was stunned 4 times in a row when I finally tried another strategy. This should not be the first one

Thekk

wrote on 2018-09-28 19:29:12

I have found Accursed Hexxer (11*) to be a suitable replacement for the Iron Starlette. It has the big advantage of being magic and taking less damage from aquatic abilities. Since it has higher speed than Maws Jr., it can also evade 2 attacks with Phase Shift.

Get ready to spend 500 Polished Charms to acquire it however.

Toenail

wrote on 2018-09-28 19:11:16

P/B starlette ends up with 419 HP (once less) before bringing back for the last time. Bruce stunned my direbeak 5 times in a row during falcosaur swarm. Finally I was able to finish it when Bruce stunned at the beginning before Ironskin. I passed, took little damage and continued the rotation. this time my falcosaur did enough damage that I was able to get off 2x windups before my starlette died.

Used a P/P Iron Starlette, and forgot to Powerball first, but Chum still died on time. Tried the alternate fight against Maws Jr., keeping the Direbeak alive to kill him. It worked great for me, but this is the first time I've used this strat, so try for yourself. I had a lvl 18 beast that went to lvl 20 on this fight, with no boosts, so decent pet xp.

Nicole wrote on 2018-09-28 11:35:42

You really have to use the P/S iron starlets for this strategy, the others dont work

You can make it a tad more reliable by making sure you use a P/S Starlette and bringing the Direbeak in as soon as Bruce comes in.

Use the Starlette and Direbeak to kill Chum and Bruce as instructed above (minus the carry pet part), then, against Maws Jr. use only Swarm until Maws Jr. has <1207hp then pass until Direbeak is dead. Bring in carry pet, swap to Starlette, and 2x Wind-Up.

This also means you can use a slightly lower lvl carry pet: 254hp (381 for elementals) will guarantee survival of a Carpnado crit.

I moved Direbeak to slot #2 for the script.

Rematch string:

Kwint:49OL:11181BB:12171TN:ZL:P:254:1:9::::

TDScript:

standby [ enemy(#3).hp<1207 & self(#2).active ]
ability(Supercharge:208) [ enemy(#1).active & self.aura(Wind-Up:458).exists ]
change(#2) [ enemy(#2).active ]
ability(Predatory Strike:518) [ enemy(#2).active & enemy.aura(Shattered Defenses:542).exists ]
ability(Ironskin:1758) [ self.round<4 ]
change(next) [ self(#2).dead ]
ability(#1)

I found another couple of fight iterations that needed parsing:

change(next) [ self(#2).dead & !self(#1).active ]
change(#2) [ enemy(#2).active ]
standby [ enemy(#3).hp<1207 & self(#2).active ]
ability(Supercharge:208) [ enemy(#1).active & self.aura(Wind-Up:458).exists ]
ability(Predatory Strike:518) [ enemy.aura(Shattered Defenses:542).exists & enemy(#3).hp>926 ]
ability(Ironskin:1758) [ self.round<4 ]
ability(Powerball:566) [ self.round=1 & round>1 & enemy(#3).hp>1096 & enemy.aura(Shattered Defenses:542).exists ]

Not my best work, but it takes into account on if your Hatchling has taken a crit or not. I tried this string around 18 different times (To the point of Starlette being wound up and ready to finish off Maws Jr) and it has worked perfectly.

Tamasra wrote on 2018-09-03 17:31:43

I didn't have the Direbeak, so i used an Erudite Manafiend (H/S 1,2,1) with my Iron Starlett (P/S)
Wind-Up - Supercharge - Wind-Up Chum died
Swapped in Carry (Bruce stunned it), Swapped in Manafiend
Arcane Winds - Arcane Blast until Arcane Winds is up again, Arcane Winds - Surge of Power and Bruce died.
Threw Starlette back in, then did the same as the Chum fight.

Main thing for this one, is Bruce stunning your carry pet- I don't have the rest of the pets for the other options so it took me going through a few pets for this one, but the 2nd try with the Manafiend worked like a charm- an Eldritch Manafiend would work as well since they're pretty much the same thing.

@Zole

I went ahead and reworked your script some to make it a little faster. It now also considers on if your Direbeak has been stunned or not when it comes out via exact HP number. I also factored in the rare Crit hit as well as the next to impossible double Crit.

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-09-03 08:36:53

Hi, sorry to hear you're having bad luck with this. Falcosaur Hatchling will more often be stunned compared to the level pet, but this is really only bad if you get stunned during Falcosaur Swarm, which doesn't happen too often. Most of the time the level pet gets stunned or Hatchling gets stunned before or after Ironskin. Ironskin should be your top priority to use before anything here here because it negates a lot of Bruce's damage for 3 turns. Those 3 turns would be for 2 rounds of Falcosaur Swarm and a round for Predatory Strike. If you get stunned the moment you switch to Direbeak, just use Ironskin next turn.

Corgi

wrote on 2018-09-02 23:52:36

Thanks for the strat, Lyseria. I believe my P/S Starlette was auto-selected for me by Rematch, and although I was a little concerned when it had to face the last shark, a double Wind-Up (no Supercharge) finished it neatly. I skipped using a trainee pet, since the only one I had was a fresh L1.

anon wrote on 2018-08-28 01:34:18

This strat can fail if Direbeak Hatchling's Falcosaur Swarm is interrupted by Bruce's stun ability.

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-08-28 02:02:25

This is interesting. I've never seen it happen in all my testing since Bruce usually does it in his first 2 turns, but I can definitely see it happening. I'll note the Falcosaur Swarm step to include this possibility. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to play around that so restarting the fight would be the only option at that point. Thank you for the feedback!

TD Script

change(next) [ enemy(#1).dead & ! self(#3).played ]
ability(Powerball:566) [ self.speed < 273 ]
ability(Supercharge:208) [ self.aura(Wind-Up:458).exists & enemy.hp > 1098 ]
ability(Ironskin:1758)
ability(Predatory Strike:518) [ enemy.aura(Shattered Defenses:542).exists ]
ability(#1)
standby
change(#1)

Note: I don't have a H/H breed Starlette to determine what the threshold is for a Supercharge overkill against Maws Jr. A P/S Starlette may be ideal as it avoids 1 round of damage for the Powerball and has the same power as a H/P. Regardless, this script checks against a P/S or H/P strength Wind-Up attack. Adjust accordingly if you are using a H/H breed.

Unreliable strat, failed multiple times before working. Bruce would annihilate whole team with an attack the caused damage to all member.

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-08-27 21:41:16

Hello. Bruce has only 1 AoE ability, Carpnado, and the damage is split evenly across our whole team, which from what I've seen does around 160 damage to each pet, then goes on a 5 round cooldown. Bruce dies before the 5 round cd is up, so I'm not sure how it's annihilating your team.

Ran this 8 times in a row now without fail to test how rng heavy it is, and ever had Bruce kill DBH. The only change I had to make was in the final 3 steps, only did Wind Up, Wind up because my HP Starlet didn't have the health to live more than 1 attack. It always killed Maws because of the 100% damage buff from Falcosaur Swarm.

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-08-27 17:34:24

Thank you for confirming DBH is fine! I actually triple checked the strat I posted to see if I accidentally mistyped something, but everything seems right. My only guess on how DBH dies to bruce for other people is that they forget to cast Ironskin. And yes, you're right about the final 3 steps. The reason I added a Supercharge is cause during my testing, I had a run where DBH entered the last fight without the flying racial buff and died immediately so it never got a chance to Falcosaur Swarm. I'll edit the Supercharge turn to include that Wind-up should be used instead if the vulnerable debuff is up. Thanks!

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-08-27 17:27:24

Hi there. I'm not sure what exactly is causing your Direbeak to die. Are you sure you're starting with Ironskin? DBH has speed advantage thanks to the Flying racial, so you always get it off before Bruce can do anything to it, immediately negating >200 damage from Bruce's attacks for the current turn and the next 2 turns. More often than not, DBH during my testing starts the 3rd fight with more than half HP and flying passive.

This won it for me: Clockwork Gnome, 1*1. Turret, metal fist until you can put another turret down. Metal fist until first one is dead. May or may not get a chance to put another turret down.
Bring in leveling pet. Bring in Darkmoon Zepplin 1 1 2. Bombing run, decoy, missile until #2 is dead. Bombing run, missile until #3 is dead.
